A black, quilted mackintosh by COMME DES GARCONS HOMME. Made in 1998 from a lightweight wool gabardine, the coat has a five button placket, two way convertible collar, and angled welt pockets at the side. The collar is double layered, which makes for a subtle detail if the collar is worn down but can be made obvious by folding the top collar up to reveal the inside of the bottom collar. The front placket and hem have been constructed in a way that mirrors this, with both edges secured in place but partly left open so that the interfacing layer can be seen in the middle. The coat has a layer of polyester quilting sewn into it, which provides additional warmth and creates the coat's padded, bulky silhouette that is a bit like an elongated bomber jacket. The coat has an internal pocket, and a button tab allows the cuffs to be cinched slightly if desired.
